Member Webinar - Saving Lives, Saving Money: Groundbreaking CPOE Study Proves ROI, Spurs Payer Endorsement
September 3rd, 2008 3:00pm – 5:00pm
In “Saving Lives, Saving Money,” David W. Bates, MD, MSC, the nation’s leading expert on patient safety and medication errors, and experts from PricewaterhouseCoopers will lead a blue-ribbon panel in presenting results from a first-of-its-kind study that demonstrated a positive ROI from Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) in only two years. The return was so impressive that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts will require use of CPOE for hospitals to be eligible for its incentive plans after 2011, and the Massachusetts legislature will now require all hospitals to have CPOE by 2012.
Dr. Molly Coye, CEO of HealthTech, will introduce HealthTech’s new webinar series on Transformative Technologies. The panelists will discuss the study and its conclusion that Massachusetts could prevent 55,000 adverse drug events annually and save $170 million a year if all Massachusetts hospitals fully-implemented CPOE. Mitch Adams, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative and Dr. Wendy Everett, President of the New England Healthcare Institute, will discuss their strategy for advancing the adoption of this important technology.
